The total amount of Moldavite scattered around the world is estimated at 275 tons. There are now only FOUR moldavite mines that are in full operation in the Czech Republic. Making this stone a more rare commodity and more of a collectors specimen. It is very popular in Jewelry.
NOTE - BEWARE of imposters!!! - since the qualities of Moldavite are similar to glass - there are now FAKES being made out of green bottle glass. The best way to tell if you have the "Real Deal" is to look at it through a Loupe or very good magnifying glass to see if there are natural inclusions - that is the only way to tell if you have the real stuff.
